These are my new and improved spawning mops that you see me use in my Ricefish breeding ponds! I used cut up pool noodles for a long time but they break down and disintegrate, so I designed this 3D printed version to fix that issue and I’ve been using these ever since!
Each order comes with 2 complete spawning mops, with pre-cut scotch brite pads exactly the way I like them! All you need to do is roll up the scotch brite pads and stick them in the floating tops, then you’re ready to breed all the egg depositing fish you want!
My female medaka started laying eggs for the first time about a week ago. I made a sad little spawning mop as an interim measure but the eggs continued to disappear into the plants in the tank, I guess. My set of 2 mops arrived today and I set one in the tank after giving the scrubbing pad part a good rinse and squeeze. It has been in there less than 2 hours and already she has deposited eggs on it!
I guess it is too soon for me to say about fish's eggs, I haven't gotten any yet but device looks good to me floating on my pond; and I know when the times is right for the fish to lay eggs, it will work.
