Hookeriaceae Moss is a rare and highly sought-after aquatic moss known for its soft, flowing appearance and vibrant green color. Unlike more common mosses like Java Moss, this species has a feathery, intricate texture that adds a natural, elegant look to aquariums. It grows well when attached to driftwood, rocks, or other hardscape elements, making it a perfect choice for aquascaping enthusiasts.

Key Features

  • Feathery, Delicate Texture: Provides a soft, natural aesthetic to aquascapes.
  • Bright Green Coloration: Enhances the vibrancy of planted tanks.
  • Excellent for Hardscape Attachment: Can be tied or glued to driftwood, rocks, or mesh.
  • Great for Shrimp & Fry: Creates hiding places and grazing surfaces for small aquatic life.
  • Slow to Moderate Growth: Forms a dense, lush mat with minimal trimming.

Care Tips

Lighting: Low to moderate lighting is sufficient for healthy growth.

CO₂ & Fertilization: CO₂ is not required but can enhance growth and density; benefits from liquid fertilizers containing micronutrients.

Temperature: Thrives in water temperatures between 68–78°F (20–26°C).

Water Conditions: Prefers a pH range of 6.0–7.5 and soft to moderately hard water.

Attachment & Placement: Best attached to hardscape using thread, glue, or mesh; avoid burying in the substrate.

Trimming & Maintenance: Occasional trimming helps maintain shape and prevents overgrowth.

Propagation: Easily propagated by dividing clumps and reattaching them to hardscape.
