- Temperature: Prefers water temperatures between 65–78°F (18–26°C).
- Water Conditions: Thrives in a pH range of 6.5–7.5 with soft to moderately hard water.
- Substrate & Placement: Plant the bulb in nutrient-rich substrate but avoid fully burying it to prevent rot.
- Trimming & Maintenance: Older or damaged leaves should be removed to maintain the plant’s health.
- Seasonal Dormancy: The plant may enter a rest period where leaves die back; during this time, reduce lighting and stop fertilization until new growth appears.
- Propagation: Propagates from bulbs, producing new shoots that can be separated once mature.

Hello! Madagascar Lace is an Aponogeton bulb plant which sometimes loses it's leaves and regrows them. In the wild they have a wet/dry season and evolved this way to survive the dry season when they're no longer underwater! You can leave the bulb in the tank and it'll regrow in time, or some people like to speed it up by wrapping in damp paper towel and putting them in their fridge for a few weeks then replanting. It's a really fun plant and can be very rewarding once it's happy in your tank.
